I had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful family about two years ago. Ula was not even one at that time, and now she’s three years old and has a little baby sister! The best part of having gone through the in-home photo session process is that Mom and Dad knew exactly what to expect. This time around, managing two kids was certainly more exciting. Ula ran around, jumped on the bed, and surfed on the living room ottoman (it had wheels). Meanwhile Evie was a typical 7-month old baby. She was seriously drooling/teething, crawling all over, and snuggling with mom every chance she got. Both girls were just so cute and I absolutely loved trying to catch them in their element!
My photo sessions for families with young children have been following a pretty predictable pattern lately. We start off with wardrobe selection and some in-home studio portraits while the whole photoshoot thing is still new for the children. After about 5-10 minutes of rapid-fire photography, we transition to more free-form lifestyle shots around the house. Places like the bedroom (with beds to jump on) and the living room are absolutely perfect for little kids to enjoy. We bring out toys to play with and often take a little break for a snack. When the little ones start getting antsy, the whole family takes a trip to a nearby park (or any spot that is special to the family) for some outdoor shots. In this particular instance we went to Twin Brooks Park in Trumbull, which is just so beautiful! This is such a nice flow for kids that like to be on the move and for parents that want a good variety of image options in the end. It was seriously tough to narrow down my favorites for this post.. Mom and I both loved so many photos from this session!
