I don't believe in New Years resolutions. Making a big sweeping change because of a specific date on the calendar isn't the best way to improve. Small changes, made frequently, are a much better way to do that, in my experience.
And every year, during the last week leading up to January, I take a few days to evaluate the past year. I think about what I should add to make the client experience better.. but I also think about what I should remove or stop doing.
Last year, I made the decision to stop doing in-home and outdoor sessions and focus entirely on Studio work. I did that for several reasons. 1. There are already many wonderful photographers who provide that service. 2. I'm paying for a Studio every month, so I might as well use it! and 3. It will cut down on travel time and pre-planning, which means I get to spend more time with my family.
It wasn't an easy decision by any means. During the Fall, families want those outdoor photo sessions. But I never regretted my choice. I love the convenience of a climate-controlled Studio. I love not having to reschedule due to rain or crazy weather (like some of the windy days we've had lately). And I love the simplicity of the images we get.
And this year, I'm asking YOU what you think.
You can fill out the form below or simply email me your thoughts (firstname.lastname@example.org).
What did you love about us working together? What do you think was unnecessary? What would you like to have for your next family or newborn photo session? I will be forever grateful if you can share your thoughts with me and help me find the ways in which I can improve this year!
