Product Spotlight: Print Collections

While most of the print products my clients enjoy are sold à la carte (this gives everyone the most choice, btw), Collections exist for those who would like a set package of prints. The biggest benefit is the amount of thought that went into creating these Collections and the fact that they’re simple and straight forward to avoid confusion and make decisions easier.

In this post, you’ll find out what Collections are and why they’re one of the most popular products my clients choose for their portraits!

Who the Collections are For

So many of my Clients want more than just one or two portraits from their session. And that makes sense. If you’re investing the time and effort for portraits, you might as well make the most use of it! This is where Collections come in. They allow Clients to purchase a bundle of images with cost savings and some exclusive extras. Collections are a fully-finished package that includes everything you need to start enjoying your portraits with no additional work! They’re for anyone who wants a family keepsake with more than a handful of their images and wants to be able to display them right away.

Key Features

There are a few key features for these Collections. First of all, you can choose from 6, 12, or 20 Image Collections, which all include a wooden photo stand, a keepsake box for your images (the top two Collections include a handcrafted silk box), white gloves for safe handling, and savings on any additional products like frames and albums. They also come with the high resolution digital upload of all the purchased images. All in all, not only are you saving money by buying a Collection (vs individual images), but you’re also getting a very nicely packaged product which will keep your photographs safe for future generations.

Here are some other features to note..

  • Fast turnaround, your printed Collection is ready for in-home delivery within 1 week.

  • All products are kept in stock and printing is done in-house.

  • Individually sourced handcrafted products from other small and US-based companies (basically, I find the best of the best, and then put everything together!).

  • Everything provided in one convenient bundle for you.

  • The bigger the Collection, the less you pay per image.

What makes these Collections different

Because I personally hand-print each image (you can read a bit more about why that’s a big deal here) and pull together best-of-the-best products from craftsmen who sometimes took years to find, you end up with a product that’s truly special and unique. Another point is that you are never overloaded with choices. Basically, the Collection that makes the most sense for you has to do with how many portraits you end up loving from your session. The decisions are kept to a minimum because the images are the focus (as they should be), and if you’re looking at prints as your preferred way to enjoy your portraits, Collections are structured to give you more of what you want, not stuff you don’t.

How to enjoy a Collection of Prints in your home

The silk family heirloom box looks right at home on a coffee table or a bookshelf. It’s a little bigger than 8”x10”, which is a very manageable size and fits just about anywhere. The gray Japanese silk seamlessly fits into any interior as well, which means you can display/store it like you would display an album. The fun part is that a wooden photo stand is also included (pictured below). You can use this stand to display any of the portraits in your box, and rotate them as often as you like. This is important as you get to enjoy them all without having to use up a lot of wall or shelf space. It’s prefect for people who want a smaller display with a lot of versatility.

How to take care of your prints

Taking care of your prints is pretty simple. Keep them away from direct sunlight if you can. Make sure they’re not on display somewhere that’s super humid or hot. And gently wipe them with a dry microfiber cloth if they get dusty. You should avoid touching the print itself with your fingers - feel free to handle them by holding the mat or use the complimentary white gloves that are provided with every order.

The printing and mats should stay pristine for many many years and if anything was to happen, they come with a lifetime replacement policy (so no sweat if your little one decides to manhandle your precious portrait with sticky fingers).

And if you’d like a more detailed breakdown for how to take care of your photographs, you can find a dedicated Blog post for that right here: https://nlalorphotography.com/blog/taking-care-of-your-photography-prints-fairfield-county-connecticut.

The thought behind Collections is to create a fully-finished item that can become a family heirloom over generations. It’s important for everything to have the right longevity and quality, which is why it took years to source everything, but also to look beautiful in the end. It’s also equally important for me to take on that work of printing and assembling so my Clients can go straight to enjoying their portraits without skipping a beat.

Let me know if you have any questions about the Collections in the comments below or if you simply have a comment about anything I mentioned above. I look forward to hearing from you!
