Behind the Scenes: Jolie Gotique Brand Photoshoot
Jolie Gotique is a mobile fashion boutique based in Greenwich, Connecticut. Penny, the owner, is a local Greenwich resident with an amazing fashion style that she infuses into her business. Twice a year, Penny gathers a team of creative professionals to do a spring (and then a fall) photoshoot for her business. It takes a team (photographer, stylist, hair & makeup artist), and a new location each time to make this happen.
For spring 2018, we photographed in lobby of The Lighthouse. A residential apartment building might seem like an odd choice for a fashion photoshoot, but the lobby had everything we needed, and it was indoors.. which, in April, is a very good thing to have! Even with a location that is obviously limited by the confines of the space, we had a lot of variety to work with. The idea is to pair each outfit with an area that is best suited for it in terms of color and style of the clothes. The goal is to end up with photographs that are cohesive but don't look exactly the same. But as far as commercial photoshoots go, it's also not a huge production.
Once again, the team is fairly limited (everyone's names are listed below). And my equipment is minimal as well, by choice. I prefer to work with what's already there and move quickly. Setting up lights and testing the results when you have a lot of ground to cover isn't very practical. All in all, we started at 10am in the morning and ended around 2pm (with a catered lunch break thanks to The Granola Bar). And the time flew by! I love working with other women (especially business owners) and it was such a wonderful collaborative experience.
I wanted to share some behind the scenes photos to give you a little peek into our day... and the final results, too. The behind the scenes shots were taken with my iPhone (thank you Kelsey for doing double-duty work!). The final shots are mine. I assume you can tell which is which! :)
